ABOUT THE CHOIR
Singing in Harmony
Since its inception in 1991, the Durban Chamber Choir has brought voluntary singers together in a shared pursuit of musical excellence, artistic growth, friendship and community. We continue to play an important role in Durban’s cultural life, creating opportunities for generations of singers and audiences to connect through music.
Over time the Durban Chamber Choir has become a respected part of the region’s cultural landscape and finds resonance with diverse audiences by presenting programmes rich in a variety of styles.
While its roots were in early sacred music, the choir has continued to evolve and currently hosts an expanded, diverse repertoire of song, including global music, screen music, and works by modern, twenty-first century composers.
We meet weekly on Monday evenings in Musgrave Road, Durban, to rehearse, with a midyear and end-of-year break of several weeks each.
